Code of Conduct for Players & Colts
· Always act in a sportsmanlike manner towards opponents,
officials and spectators
· Learn the rules applicable for the age group that you are
playing for
· Always accept the decision of the umpires and scorers. Never
argue
· Listen to your team manager off the pitch, and your captain
on the field
· Show respect to the Club’s and other people’s
property
· Encourage your colleagues. Do not complain and criticise
them
· Set a good example to other players
· Do not use bad language or offensive behaviour
· Try your hardest at all times and have as much fun as possible
· Help your manager and others at the club
· Always warm up and cool down properly
Code of Conduct for Club Officials/Volunteers
The essence of good ethical contact and practice is summarised below.
All club officials and volunteers must:
· Consider the well-being and safety of colts and players
before the development of performance
· Develop an appropriate working relationship with colts and
players based on mutual trust and respect
· Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability
and experience of those taking part
· Promote the positive aspects of cricket (e.g. fair play)
· Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
· Follow all guideline laid down by the ECB and the Club
· Coaches should hold the appropriate, valid qualifications
and insurance cover
Code of Conduct for Coaches/Colts Managers
· Treat colts with respect
· Respect their right to personal privacy
· Set a good example at and outside the Club
· Consider how others might interpret your actions and, where
possible, avoid giving cause for well-intentioned actions to be misconstrued
· Avoid physical contact
· Try and organise for more than one adult to be present at
all times
· Do not permit abusive peer activities (e.g. bullying, ridiculing,)
· Do not be drawn into inappropriate action
· Set a good example which others can follow
· Arrive in plenty of time to set up your activities and ensure
safety
· Teach your players that honest effort is more important
than victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue
disappointment
· Teach players to be fair and follow the rules
· Ensure you and your players have respect for their opponents,
the officials and opposing coaches/managers and supporters
· Take responsibility for the young people in your care until
they have safely left the activity
· Coaches should hold the appropriate, valid qualifications
and insurance cover
Code of Conduct for Parents/Carers
· Remember that children play for their fun, not yours!
· Encourage children to play, do not force them
· Praise your child’s efforts whether they win or lose
· Applaud all good play
· Never ridicule a child for losing or making a mistake
· Children learn best by following a good example
· Learn the rules to better understand what you are looking
at and commenting on
· Show your appreciation to all officials, coaches and helpers
· Condemn the use of violence, profane language and any form
of abuse
· Think of how you can best help the coach and/or the club
